Understanding Supplier Pre-Qualification

Before dispatching a quotation request, formalizing a tender, or proceeding to award, Golden Mine Projects' Supply Chain team conducts thorough background evaluations known as 'pre-qualification'. This strategy aids Golden Mine Projects in ensuring potential business partners align with a variety of standards, such as:

  • Performance in health, safety, and environment
  • Engagement with and involvement of local and primary communities
  • Maintenance of necessary insurances
  • Past performance records
  • Commitment to human rights
  • Economic stability
  • Technical expertise
  • Public image and media reputation
The Importance of Supplier Pre-Qualification

Ensuring our suppliers align with our core values and meet our standards is paramount. To determine the right partners, we conduct extensive background evaluations based on the previously mentioned criteria.

Approach to Managing Risks

We consistently review vendors using a third-party tool that checks affiliations with governments and officials, and tracks any recorded violations. This includes scrutiny for negative media attention and an assessment against a set of pre-determined standards such as regulatory compliance, labor practices, human rights, environmental concerns, health and safety, and overall management and operations.

Each operational region implements a location-specific procurement policy detailing requirements for tenders, contract awards, performance evaluations, and assessments. This policy also provides a structured approach to weighing both commercial and non-commercial factors.

When evaluating suppliers, a designated percentage is applied to consider ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors in the overall assessment.

For on-site services, we also ensure extra compliance checks consistent with our mine-site guidelines before onboarding suppliers for assignments. This may include, for instance, audits of independent contractors.
